EARLY INTERVENTION CENTRE

Early Intervention Centre For the Hearing Impaired Children

1	Gist of the schemes	Infant and young children with hearing impairment are given training to develop speech and language skills so as to get integrated into normal school by the time they attain the age of 5 years
2	Eligibility Criteria	Young children with hearing impairment without any additional disabilities in the age group of 2½ years are eligible for admission.
3	Whether form of application is prescribed	Yes. Available with District Differently abled Welfare Office.
4	Certificates to be furnished	National identity card for differently abled and birth certificate.

Early Intervention Centre For The Children With Intellectually Disabled

1	Gist of the schemes	Early intervention centres for children with intellectual disabilities have been established in all the districts to benefit 50 children in each district. These centres have been established through NGOs. The main objective of these centres is to identify children with intellectual disability and children with allied disabilities at birth and to provide early intervention services including early detection and identification (0-6 years).
2	Eligibility Criteria	Children with intellectual disability and allied disabilities in the age group of below 6 Years.

Early Intervention Centre For The Visually Impaired

1	Gist of the schemes	Visually impaired children are identified, assessed and prepared to join in main stream education. Early intervention centre for visually impaired has been established in 6 Districts.
2	Eligibility Criteria	Visually impaired children below 6 years.

Early Intervention Centre For The Children With Cerebral Palsy SRTC, Chennai And Tiruchirapalli

1	Gist of the schemes	Stimulation training is given to the children affected with cerebral palsy in the age group of below 6 years.
2	Eligibility Criteria	Young children/ infants with cerebral palsy in the age group of below 6 years.

Early Intervention Centre For The Children With Autism

1	Gist of the schemes	To effectively combat the incidence of Autism, there is need for early intervention. Early intervention programme emphasizes attending to social stimuli, imitation skills, language comprehension and usage, appropriate play skills etc. one centre each has been established in SRTC- Chennai, RSRTC-Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Thanjavur, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Salem, Namakkal, Madurai, Erode, Coimbatore, Vellore, Thuthukudi, Villupuram, Virudhunagar, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Thiruvannamalai.
2	Eligibility Criteria	Children with Autism

Early intervension Centre for Children with Multiple Disabilities,Regional Resource cum Training Centre- Tiruchirappalli

Scheme for screening and identification of children with development delay

1	Gist of the schemes	The scheme of screening and identification of children with developmental delay in the age group of below six year is being implemented through anganwadi workers in Madurai district. Under this scheme, training has been provided to all anganwadi workers of these blocks to screen children in the age group of below 6 years for developmental delay.

Scheme for the Provision of weaning food and supplementary nutritious food to the children in early intervention centres

1	Gist of the schemes	In order to overcome the delay in growth due to lack in nutrition of the children with disabilities, weaning food and nutritious meal is provided to the children with disabilities attending the early intervention centres from the anganwadi centres of integrated child development services.

Mobile therapy unit for the Differently abled Children

1	Gist of the schemes	For the first time in India Mobile Therapy scheme is introduced and providing Rehabilitation service to the Differently abled children at their Door steps.
