1	Gist of the schemes	Visually impaired, hearing impaired, intellectual disability and locomotor differently abled persons are provided with free special education, vocational training, boarding and lodging. Every year four sets of uniforms and text books given free of cost.
2	Eligibility Criteria	Differently abled children aged 5 years and above.
3	Whether form of application is prescripbed	Yes. Prescribed formats are available with Head Masters/Principals of special schools.
4	Certificates to be furnished	Copy of the national identity card for differently abled and birth certificate
5	Officer to whom the application is to be submitted	District Differently Abled Welfare Officer / Head Master of the Government special school for differently abled concerned.

Scholarship (1 To VII Standard)

1	Gist of the schemes	Scholarship for purchase of books and note books (a) Scholarship for students studying from 1st Standard to 5th Standard Rs.1,000/- per annum. (b) Scholarship for students studying from 6th Standard to 8th Standard Rs.3,000/- per annum
2	Eligibility Criteria	Differently abled students studying in Government recognised schools.
3	Whether form of application is prescripbed	Yes. Application forms available with concerned District Differently Abled Welfare Officer.
4	Certificates to be furnished	The headmaster should certify that the student has not availed similar assistance from other sources.

Scholarship (Above VII Standard)

1	Gist of the schemes	Scholarship for students studying from 9th Standard to 12th Standard Rs.4000/- per annum. For degree courses Rs.6000/- per annum. For P.G., Medical, Engineering, vocational courses and other professional courses Rs.7000/- per annum.
2	Eligibility Criteria	Differently abled students studying in Government recognised schools/colleges/ training Centres, should have obtained not less than 40% of marks in the previous qualifying examination.
3	Whether form of application is prescripbed	Yes. Applications are available with concerned District Differently Abled Welfare Officer.
4	Certificates to be furnished	Certificates from head of the institution, National identity card for differently abled, statement of marks in the previous qualifying examination in the format prescribed.

Readers Allowance To Viually Impaired Persons

1	Gist of the schemes	The visually impaired students are given readers allowance. Readers allowance is being paid at the following rate: 1. IX Std. To XII Std. - Rs.3000/- (per annum) 2. Degree courses - Rs.5000/- ( per annum) 3. Post Graduate and Professional Courses - Rs.6000/- (per annum)
2	Eligibility Criteria	Must be visually impaired student of IX std. and above of a bonafide institution. Must produce certificate from the reader, who reads the lessons.
3	Whether form of application is prescripbed	Yes. Applications are available with concerned District Differently Abled Welfare Officer
4	Certificates to be furnished	Certificate from head of the institution, National identity card for differently abled and Statement of marks in the previous qualifying examination.

Scribe Assistance To The Persons Assists Visually Impaired Students In Writing Examination

1	Gist of the schemes	A sum of Rs.300 per paper is paid to each scribe. Scribes are engaged to write the answer which visually impaired students dictate in Government Examinations for Standard 9th to 12th.
2	Eligibility Criteria	Visually impaired students who appear for Government Examinations.

Goverment Institute For The Intellectually disabled Chennai

1	Gist of the schemes	The children with intellectual disability are given special education, vocational training, food, uniform, boarding, medicine and lodging facilities. The children are also imparted training in daily living skills.

Salary Grant To Special Educators

1	Gist of the schemes	Three Special educators working in Government recognised schools for visually impaired/hearing impaired and two Special Educators and a Therapist (Physiotherapist/ Speech Therapist) working in Schools for the children with intellectual disability are given Rs.14,000/- per month.
2	Eligibility Criteria	The School for the visually impaired, hearing impaired and intellectual disability should function for a minimum period of 5 years. Special Educators should be qualified as per Rehabilitation Council of India, Physiotherapist should have degree in Physiotherapy and Speech Therapist should have degree in Speech Therapy.
3	Whether form of application is prescripbed	Yes
4	Certificates to be furnished	Educational Qualification of special educators/ Physiotherapist

Financial Assistance To Non Governmental Oraganisations

1	Gist of the schemes	Funds are sanctioned to schools for the children with intellectual disability run by NGOs towards feeding charges, rent and construction/extension of building.
2	Eligibility Criteria	School for the children with intellectual disability should have functioned for a minimum period of 5 years and should be registered under Section 51 of RPWD Act, 2016.
